Purple Urchin is excited to announce we've launched our Refill Program! Environmental due diligence and conscious consumerism has always been a large piece of who we are. This past year our team chatted internally to identify what we could do to take our business to the next level as an eco-conscious business.
We determined that the next step our business needed to take was evaluate our packaging. Purple Urchin's products are made with natural ingredients, meaning when our line of bath and body products are washed down the drain they are low impact to the environment. Our team decided we want to do the same with the packaging our products are offered in. We are transitioning away from single-use bottles and containers and pivoting towards reusable ones! As we need to order new packaging, we're ordering eco-conscious alternatives.
To enable our customers to reuse existing bottles, containers - including the ones they've purchased in the past from Purple Urchin, they can come to Purple Urchin and purchase a refill of their favourite clean beauty, natural bath and body products!
HOW DOES OUR REFILL PROGRAM WORK?
BRING IN YOUR EMPTY, SANITIZED BOTTLE OR CONTAINER TO OUR STORE
When you need to re-up your supply of PU products, you can bring your own or previously purchased bottle or container back to Purple Urchin to refill it. Please ensure your bottle or container is clean and sanitized. We recommend using isopropyl alcohol to clean your bottle or container. Let it dry (completely) before bringing it in to refill. If your bottle has a different product in it or it is still wet it can disrupt the performance level of the product we make, as well as cause a bacteria build up.
We will have some bottles and containers available for sale at the store for customers who would like to buy them.
When you arrive at the store to refill, bring your container to the refill counter (back cash) and let a sales associate know you're there for a refill and what product you'll be refilling. Please note, we cannot refill to a specified requested weight. Due to the nature of refilling product, our team cannot refill your bottle to an exact weight, we recommend bringing in a bottle or container that you'd like filled up or request it being half full.
OUR TEAM WILL WEIGH YOUR BOTTLE OR CONTAINER BEFORE WE FILL IT WITH THE REFILL PRODUCT
When a sales associate is available to assist you, they will tare (weigh) your bottle or container on our certified scale. Our team member will make note of the bottle or container's weight before we refill it with the product of your choice.
OUR TEAM WILL REFILL YOUR BOTTLE OR CONTAINER WITH THE PRODUCT OF YOUR CHOICE AND IDENTIFY TOTAL PRODUCT WEIGHT FOR CHECKOUT
Our team will then fill up your bottle or container with the product of your choice. Once we have filled your bottle or container up, we will weigh it again on our tared scale and record the weight of the product. This will then be noted and printed on a label for the cashier to enter into our POS and run you through checkout.
REFILL PROGRAM RULES AND POLICY
Sales will be charged by the exact weight of the product sold.
Customers cannot change their mind about a product after the container has been filled, for example, can't realize halfway through us filling their bottle that they actually meant to ask for a different liquid soap. Once our team has started to pour the product, the product becomes final sale.
