Our Hemp Head Shampoo Bar is the moisture treatment that dehydrated, damaged hair is looking for! It contains specially selected ingredients to help moisturize your hair and scalp such as pine, patchouli and lavender oils. The hemp seed oil in this shampoo bar reduces itching and flaking of the scalp, while restoring the skin barrier that helps retain moisture. Hemp Seed oil is high in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids which will repair and restore hair to a healthy, strong and lustrous state.

Ingredients:
sodium oleate (olive oil), sodium cocoate (coconut oil), sodium canolate (canola), sodium ricinoleate (castor oil), sodium hempseedate (hemp seed oil), sodium ucuubate (ucuuba butter), sodium cocoabutterate (cocoa butter), sodium jojobate (jojoba oil), fucus vesiculosus (bladderwrack powder), pogostemon cablin oil (patchouli), lavandula angustifolia oil (lavender), pinus sylvestris oil (Scotch pine).

Please note: our Hemp Head Shampoo Bar will always look a tad different every time we make it. The bar you receive may not look like the pictures - that's the nature of hand made soap!

Scent:
Our Hemp Head Shampoo Bar's aroma has earthy notes of patchouli and pine.

How to use:
Rub your wet shampoo bar directly onto your wet hair, ideally at the scalp area. The friction against a fibrous surface will ensure an optimal lather. Massage the lather into your scalp, working your way from the roots to the tips of your hair. Depending on hair length and thickness, this process can take from 2 to 5 minutes. Rinse the product out of your hair with warm water.

Please note: If you are new to an all natural shampoo, your hair may be used to producing an excess of oil from using detergent-based shampoos. After the first few uses with this shampoo bar, your hair may feel greasy or waxy. If you style your hair with hot tools such as a straightener or curling iron, the hair may not style in the same capacity due to the oil resetting as you transition to a natural shampoo bar. Allow your hair a few weeks to adjust to a natural, detergent-free shampoo bar.

Shelf Life: 
36 months from date of manufacture.

Our products are made with natural ingredients and are free of artificial preservatives. A best before date can be found on the underside of each item, letting you know when the product should be used by.

Product Care:
Store in a dry, cool area in between uses. If keeping the bar in a shower or bathtub area, be sure the bar is sitting on a space or soap dish that drains itself of water efficiently.

We take all our imperfect bars and ends, weigh them into 390 g portions, and bag them up. A bag of Hemp Head shampoo odds & ends is approximately 20% cheaper than buying 390 g of individual shampoo bars, AND they come in a paper bag that can be recycled or composted!

Love!!

I've had psoriasis ever since I was a child (I'm in my mid-twenties now) and nothing has ever helped. It's particularly horrible on my scalp, which has left me incredibly self conscious. When I ran out of my previous products, I decided to try this on a whim, and I've only used it twice, but it has seriously reduced my psoriasis symptoms on my scalp!! There's very minimal flaking and the itchiness, irritation, and inflammation has reduced drastically. I also have thick, curly, coarse hair, so this has also left my hair feeling super strong and shiny. I cannot give this product enough praise, it's great!

The only shampoo bar I'll ever need!

I have thin hair. I love this shampoo bar! I don't need to use conditioner with it. Awesome lather and nice smell. My hair is so soft, looks full and is nice and light! I even threw out my other shampoo bar since the results with this bar is so noticeable! Thank you for your products!

Suds up great in my hair and leaves it squeaky clean :) I also love how portable it is - I brought it on a trip recently and it's so much easier than having to bring little bottles of shampoo and body wash (I used to wash my hair and body during the trip).

I will note that it smells super strong at first - it's almost like an air freshener. Everything it touches (like the paper bag it comes in) smells like pine for a while, but once you start using the bar the smell mellows out.

Bad Product, Bad Service

I gave this shampoo a genuine try for 3 months and it is truly horrible. It leaves a waxy/oily residue on my head and hair that ITCHES. Then I need to wash it off with another shampoo at the start of my next shower thus defeating the purpose of the shampoo (and so I don't itch my scalp off!).

I was not offered any store credit upon bringing the bar back. NONE OF THE STORE POLICIES around trying new products from them were explained when I purchased the bar, despite the fact that I talked about it being my first time trying this product. I can't read the manager's mind about options available to new customers, and I was treated as if I should have been able to. Nothing was explained to me about their new product trial policies. Nothing was posted on their site about these policies at the time of my purchase, either. NOTHING.

I want to support small local businesses, but they have to (1) sell good products and (2) not expect me to read their mind about their purchase policies. The whole point of a store. Good riddance.

I’m sorry you found the bar unsuitable and were dissatisfied with it. We’ve been making and selling Hemp Head since 2012, and the product has many die-hard fans. Having said that, it is not like detergent-based shampoos, which tend to strip natural oils from hair and leave it feeling squeaky clean.
Our no return policy is clearly posted on the wall behind the checkout in our store, as well as at the bottom of our receipts. It is also clearly posted on our website. We do make exceptions to this policy in cases where a product is defective or not up to our quality standards, and are happy to do so. This was not the case in this instance. Although you brought the bar back, you did not present a receipt to our staff members. Even in cases where a product is defective, we do require a receipt in order to refund or exchange the product.
As a small independent business, we can’t offer the types of “satisfaction guaranteed or your money back” policies that big brands can. We do our best to assist customers in choosing products they may like, and we do offer samples in store when we have them available. However, hair care products are a highly personal choice, and what works for one person might not appeal to the next, and unfortunately that is out of our control.
